While I was putting my stuff in the car, Randy found a park ranger. He explained to her about our geocaching and then warned her that other geocachers needed to be alerted to the red-tailed hawk nest so the mama and her nestling would be left alone.
As it turned out, she was also a geocacher. She was familiar with the cache in the gully. Not only that, she knew where our first cache, our DNF, was located!
As she led us to the location, she told us about her own endeavors to spread the sport of geocaching. She was developing an educational program for the park and trying to find grant money to purchase GPS units for use within the park.
On this day, she changed our DNF changed to a find.
